PORON® 40V0 Flame-Retardant Polyurethane Foam

Modern devices demand materials that meet strict flame requirements without sacrificing performance. PORON® 40V0 was created for exactly that: a soft, highly compressible polyurethane foam that achieves UL94 V-0 while delivering long-term sealing and cushioning performance.

At a glance: UL94 V-0, non-halogenated flame retardants*, siloxane-free (D3–D10), excellent compression-set resistance, and strong low-frequency acoustic absorption.

Why engineers choose PORON® 40V0

  • UL94 V-0 flame rating for component safety and compliance.

  • Produced with non-halogenated flame retardants* to support greener designs (per IEC 61249-2-21 definition).

  • Siloxane-free (D3–D10) chemistry helps avoid siloxane migration near sensitive electronics—an advantage versus many silicone foams.

  • Superior compression-set resistance helps maintain force over time in gaskets, pads, and cushions.

  • Low-frequency sound absorption assists with noise and resonance mitigation in compact housings; see the absorption curve illustration on page 1 of the Product Overview.

  • Ultra-soft, gap-filling behavior (40V0-11 variant) for delicate components and uneven stack-ups; the compressibility plot on page 1 shows the soft response at modest strain.

IEC defines “halogen-free” as <900 ppm Cl or Br, and <1500 ppm total halogens.

Where PORON® 40V0 fits best

Consumer & industrial electronics

soft, UL94 V-0 foam for gap-filling, cushioning and gasketing around sensitive boards and modules; siloxane-free chemistry helps mitigate migration near electronics.

Telecom/datacom equipment

enclosure pads and anti-rattle cushions with superior low-frequency sound absorption to reduce resonance.

Appliances & small devices

V-0 compliance plus long-term compression-set resistance for seals and spacers that keep their force over time.

Lighting & control gear

soft gap-fill and cushioning around drivers and housings, supported by V-0 rating.

Note: PORON® 40V0 is designed to meet stricter flame requirements across markets, combining performance and compliance. Validate suitability in your specific design.

Application ideas

  • Gap-filling cushions for boards, modules, and delicate subassemblies that require UL94 V-0 compliance.

  • Device gaskets & pads where long-term compression-set resistance maintains seal force.

  • Acoustic damping in compact electronics, instruments, or appliances targeting low-frequency noise.

  • Power supplies, chargers, and controls that benefit from V-0 materials and soft compliance around components.

  • Lighting, telecom, and test equipment where silicone-free foams help minimize siloxane-related risks.

  • General shock & vibration isolation in enclosures with uneven stack tolerances.

Converting & value-added options from EKO-TECH

  • Die-cut & kiss-cut parts (liners, tabs, complex shapes).

  • Lamination with pressure-sensitive adhesives or functional films.

  • Thickness selection and multi-layer builds for tuned compression and damping.

  • Kitting & custom packaging for lean assembly.
